As I have been growing my new business, I have been asked by many people why a person would hire a coach, and what I bring to the table that would benefit my clients. These are great questions and ones worth responding to… so I am taking the liberty to respond in this article.
What is a Coach?
According the the Sherpa Executive Coaching Survey, “Executive coaching means regular meetings between a business leader and a trained facilitator, designed to produce positive changes in business behavior in a limited time frame.” Sherpa also indicates that business coaching is the new term for business consulting, whereby the Coach works to develop a clients knowledge and skill. Regardless of which type of coach you want, a coach will facilitate a positive change on a set schedule in a limited time period. Take a Beeline to your Target
Have you ever wandered off course when trying complete a project or reach your goals? If you are like most people, the answer is most likely a definite yes! In my Entrepreneurial Woman Magazine article 5 Secrets to Turning Good Intentions into Great Results, I mentioned how creating a board of directors can be valuable in keeping you on course. Staying on track can be a huge challenge. Each day we are pulled in different directions by clients, suppliers, employees, our own career or entrepreneurial tendencies for innovation and by life itself. Engaging with a Coach is one way to keep yourself on-track but this approach may not be for you. Another option is to find an accountability partner or group, also referred to as a mastermind or peer mentoring group. Groups can be facilitated by a Coach or self-directed.
I personally have used, and continue to use both approaches to keep my business growing and developing. Without the support of my coach and mastermind partners, I do not believe that I would have achieved the growth and fulfillment I have. I never stop learning from them. Three Keys to Grow Your Business
The focus on small business continues this week in recognition of Small Business Week. A recent article by ISLTV.com featured the secrets to small business. This article cites a survey conducted by RBC Small Business by Ipsos Reid. The survey results revealed the following as the top three components business owners need to focus on in order to grow their business:
1) develop an effective business plan (44 per cent)
2) manage your time well (43 per cent)
3) engage in networking (38 per cent).
