John Furlong recently spoke at the TEDx-SFU event in Vancouver. I hope you will enjoy his talk and gain some leadership insights.
John Furlong has been described as a Visionary Leader, Sports Hero and Nation Builder, who has become well known for his masterful storytelling and inspired crisis management. Many urged him to set the goals at a more attainable level, he refused and embarked on a ten year journey to leave a human legacy and touch the hearts and souls of every Canadian. His humility, openness and authentic leadership style created an almost spiritual bond to VANOC employees and earned him the respect of even his strongest detractors.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
