Can You Answer “What Do You Do” Clearly?

Over  the past several weeks I have been attending a lot of networking events.  Each time I meet someone new, I get asked what I do.  I am sure you can relate to this if you attend a business meeting, conference or networking events.  When asked this question, are you able to answer the question in  clear and concise way that results in intrigue and interest yet is authentic?  Will you be remembered after the event is over?  Does your response get you referrals?

How do you rate your message?

I am always amazed at how poorly people introduce themselves and their business.  Some tell you their position and nothing more while others ramble on and leave you wondering what the do.   Like a slick salesman, some have their elevator pitch so smooth it “squeaks” but doesn’t sound authentic.  Then there is everyone else.

Our ability to tell people what we do, how we do it and for whom is a major challenge – a skill that can be developed and honed over time.  It takes clarity and a lot of honest feedback.  Are you looking to improve you “elevator pitch”?  I know I am — I have come a long way but, like you, I am still in the process of honing my message.  Every networking or business event I attend I try to have more than one response when introducing myself, each one focusing on different aspects of my business.  I also watch for verbal and non-verbal cues to see if my message resonates with the intended receiver.

A solution

My friend and colleague, Sue Clement of Success Coaching has an up-coming 2-part program on crafting your audio logo.  In Audio Logo Success Secrets, Sue will share her method of creating a strong and memorable audio logo so people know who you are, what you do, for whom and what solution you provide.  You then will have time to craft your message before joining the second part of the program, where you can get feedback from Sue and others on the call.

The Audio Logo Success Secrets webinar will be held December 1st & 8th.

A strong response to “What Do You Do” is important for all business leaders,

executives, professionals and business owners alike!

It will help boost your career and your business
